My Review of Divided: When the Head and Heart Don't Agree by Bill Delvaux

I honestly found this book a bit difficult to read in terms of, once again, having to be real with myself and pull off my masks.

I suppose, mostly because I was called out in many sections of it... forced to come face to face with myself, so to speak.  I guess that's a good thing.

I've been a Christian for over 20 years.  I find that, still, I have many moments where my head and my heart are at odds with each other when it comes to the things of God.  I try to delve into the Word.. to throw myself into His arms... and trust Him completely *that's what my heart wants* ... yet, I find myself tentative.. contemplative...afraid *this would be the response of my head*.

Reading this book caused me to do some real soul searching.  I found myself many time asking if getting to know and to trust God was truly what I wanted.  In some chapters, I was left with more questions than answers, but I felt strangely 'normal' as I continued to read.

This book consists of three parts:

#1.  Viewing the Divide: How it Began and What it Destroys.

#2.  Tackling the Divide:  Three Terrains to Navigate.

#3.  Closing the Divide:  What the Journey Feels Like.

I found the sections pretty self explanatory and an interesting read.

This book is not a problem solver per se.  It is somewhat of a  'How To' on closing the gap between your mind and your heart.  It causes the reader to ask a lot of questions.

I had to be really honest with myself while reading this book.  I enjoyed it.  I'm not sure how much smaller the divide is between my head and my heart, but I hope, in time, it will be much smaller.  Reading this book gave me more motivation to forge ahead on my journey with my Savior.

I found 'Divided' to be an easy and pleasant read. I would recommend it if you find that there is a chasm between your own heart and head.
